Fibrenamics Empowers the Construction Sector with Smart Materials
If in the past, we went through the age of stone and bronze, today, if we could give a name to this era, it would undoubtedly be the age of composite materials. In this century, we've been witnessing the proliferation of this type of materials to the widest market sectors and, therefore, the construction sector is no exception.
With Fibrenamics taking the lead in producing and sharing scientific and technological knowledge about this type of material, it is no longer a surprise when this entity presents on the market a product with properties that seem like magic.
By incorporating hybrid carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoplatelets following a dispersion method, the Fibrenamics team presented a cementitious composite with the capacity of self-sensing and self-heating up to 260º Celsius. This capability allows the final product to have a high mechanical performance, a high precision temperature, stress detection capacity, and also the resolution of deformations.
