From July 30 to October 16, Guimarães will once again host the third edition of Contextile - Contemporary Textile Art Biennial.

There are several pieces exhibited in different parts of the city and several cultural spaces involved in this event: from the Vila Flor Palace, through the Martins Sarmento Society, the Design Institute, to the CAAA (Center for Art and Architecture Studies).

The Textile Tower project will also be one of the strengths of this Biennial and will be on display in the heart of Largo do Toural. After being exhibited for the first time last year at the Design Museum in Denmark, this mesh-developed tower is now back in the limelight.

Keeping the same concept, changing only part of its design, this is a development that resulted from an interdisciplinary research that involved collaboration between the Center for Information Technology and Architecture (CITA), in Denmark, the Fibrenamics International Platform at the University of Minho and the textile company AFF - A. Ferreira & Filhos, SA, in Caldas de Vizela.

Contextile's mission is to “place the textile in the context of contemporary art” and, for this reason, this project gains special relevance here, as it links the textile with architecture and art.

This is yet another participation of Fibrenamics in an event with an international dimension, which allows us to demonstrate the multiplicity and diversity of the application of the extraordinary world of fibers, while bringing it closer to society.
