Fibrenamics was present at an international conference in Covilhã

On December 3rd, Fibrenamics was present at ICEUBI2015 - International Conference on Engineering, at the University of Beira Interior, in Covilhã.

André Ferreira and Dionísio Silveira were the two researchers who represented the platform, presenting two scientific articles based on the R&D activities that Fibrenamics has been carrying out.

The article entitled "Performance of the influence of yarn systems on the terry cloth" was presented by André Ferreira and, according to the researcher, its theme generated a lot of interest in the participants. This was a study that concluded that the strategic use of different yarns and fibers in the structures of terry fabrics "alters their properties of absorption, diffusion and release of moisture". However, as the researcher says, "it is an introductory study" and that, in a following approach, "more variables should be included in the study, such as twisting of the threads, structural variations, use of threads of other compositions".

In turn, Dionísio Silveira exposed the article “Study of fibrous materials to reduce the thermal signature”, in which he made it known that it is possible to camouflage the body thermal signature, in this case of a soldier in a war theater, with the use of fibrous materials . In the perspective of this researcher, "the article aroused interest in revealing an evolution in the area of personal protection and camouflage".

For Fibrenamics researchers, ICEUBI2015 is an international conference that covers several scientific areas and that is “important for contact with experts from other areas who can transmit knowledge from areas of lesser domain and thus expand our scientific knowledge ”. Furthermore, “by watching the presentations of the articles and having the possibility to contact the authors directly, it allows to increase the knowledge with the members of the scientific community, always leaving a door for new works together and in different areas.”

This was yet another successful participation by Fibrenamics, which allowed the transfer and sharing of knowledge regarding what has been developed by researchers on this platform.
