The market related to the military segment, specifically with regard to operating equipment items designed to support the military campaign (pack, holster, canteen port, ammunition, ballistic vest cover among others) woven polyamide 6 or 6.6 are used nowadays worldwide.
The objective of this study is to develop a fabric that replaces what is used nowadays, both in terms of material used and at the level of the textile construction, with improvements in the following mechanical properties:
- Tensile strength;
- Resistance to tearing and perforation;
- Wear resistance;
- Weight/tissue area.
In such a way that it is possible to obtain a final product with a satisfactory cost/benefit, i.e., that is commercially viable and that expands their application in other markets beyond military market segment. A product with best quality that due to its durability, maximizes the reposition time due to wear and consequent reduction of the logistical effort, and at the same time boosts the textile industry, is an asset for the market, which will provide a product with non-conventional production techniques.
This project is being carried out within the framework of the PhD studies of the researcher Gabriel da Vinha under the guidance of Professor Raul Fangueiro.
