CVR and Fibrenamics call for joint position on textile waste

The Center for the Valorisation of Waste (CVR) held, on November 24, a Technical Conference under the theme “Dematerialization”. Integrated in the official program of the European Week for the Prevention of Waste, this activity counted on the support of Guimarães' candidacy for the European Green City and the participation of the International Fibrenamics Platform of the University of Minho.

Fernando Cunha of Fibrenamics appealed “to create incentives for the use of textile waste, with a focus also on raising awareness”. Jorge Araújo, CVR's executive director, also warned of the need to create “spaces for the deposit of textile waste for small companies” in the eco-centers for later valorisation. According to Fernando Cunha, a “joint position between the various entities to resolve the issue” is decisive.
