Fibrenamics Green hits 80 000 people

In two years of activity the Fibrenamics platform for the development of innovative products based on waste promoted the circular economy in Portugal and in the World.

One month after the conclusion of the first phase of the project, Fibrenamics – International Platform of the University of Minho, makes the official balance of the Fibrenamics Green first two years of activity, that reached more than 80 thousand people in its various actions of circularity models promotion.

A sustainable innovation initiative aimed at valuing waste from various industries as a source of value creation for product development and that, over two years, promoted the circular economy among the business community, university, creative industries and international scientific community.

The numbers speak for themselves. There are more than 100 companies that are partners of this initiative and a network of more than a hundred creatives who see in each waste an inspiring opportunity to be the basic raw material for products with added value.

The products and technologies developed are already being introduced in the market.
From a partnership with the Lousas de Valongo it has born SLATETEC, a pilot industrial unit that prepares to value the waste produced in the extraction and treatment of slate and which will create two more jobs.

After this first phase of scientific research, technological development, promotion and new products design, the Fibrenamics Green is now preparing to make the jump with an upgrade that will be known during the second half of 2018.
