Green Think Tank, a new space for network creativity

The Green Think Tank (GTT) is a creative space that, through the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinary contact, promotes the development of sustainable solutions and the opportunity to highlight the skills of the creatives that belong to this network.

The Green Think Tank (GTT) is a creative space that, through the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinary contact, promotes the development of sustainable solutions and the opportunity to highlight the skills of the creatives that belong to this network.

Some of the goals assigned by Fibrenamics for this network of creativity are: to interconnect creativity and technological innovation, to foster interactions among the various stakeholders in the community, to foster critical thinking and networking, to boost the growth of creative industries and to create the ideal environment for granting waste-based products.

This creative community emerged from Fibrenamics Green, a platform that aims to develop innovative products based on waste from the industrial environment, with the purpose of developing innovative projects from creative ideas generated in the “tank” of opportunities for waste recovery.

The great importance of this initiative in the Fibrenamics Green project is to aggregate the creative industries in the same space, offering creative opportunities in order to bring the designers together with the market and having in consideration the needs of the industry.

Together, everything is possible
This network of creatives and designers is developing some creative ideas together to drive the development of innovative waste-based products. So far, the Green Think Tank already has a significant community of designers and creatives.

GTT is targeted to all professionals and aspirants in the creative industries (designers, architects, artists, etc.) who wish to participate individually in a space of sharing and discussion of ideas and innovative projects. To do the registration it is only needed to go to http://green.fibrenamics.com/green-think-tank/ and share with Fibrenamics Green your profile and digital portfolio.

David Bota, GTT ambassador, also connected to the Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, defines this initiative as “an invitation for young people to be actors, not consumers, of the new society and also an opportunity for national companies to see what that future will be”.

Members of this creative community have access to insider information, opportunities to create synergies with corporate networks, access to a technologic network, participation in creative workshops, and opportunities to participate in creativity contests.

Until the middle of July, a creativity contest was made up of two challenges:
• Fibre Challenge – development of an innovative product based on the Fibre Demonstrator model, which is based on fibrous waste.
• Wood Challenge – development of a product based on the demonstrated Wood model, which is based on wood waste.

The winners of the contest were Pedro Regadas (Fiber) and Sónia Soeiro (Wood). The jury valued merit, innovation, creativity, sustainability and technical feasibility, distinguishing the best solutions with new utilities, shapes, touches, finishes or emotions.

The initiative also aims to contribute to the affirmation of creative production in Portugal, particularly in the areas of footwear, construction, textiles, furniture and transport. The winner of each challenge will be able to see your profile and the product developed based on waste to be disseminated in the specialty media and generalists and to win a monetary prize of € 500.00.

New contests soon
According to Ângela Ferreira, one of the responsible for the project, will be open soon two more contests. Their dates are not yet defined, but it is known until now that they will take place in the coming months. Each of the contests will involve multiple challenges and will have the partnership of various companies.

Fibrenamics Green – Platform for the development of innovative products based on wastes is a part-financed project by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the NORTE 2020 Regional Operational Program for the North 2014-2020 with a total eligible cost of 552.856,83€, EU financial support of 469.928,31€ and self-financing of 82.928,52€.
