NanoMask, project of Fibrenamics, on Antena 1
The 90 Segundos de Ciência program of Antena 1, talked about NanoMask, a project developed in partnership between Poleva and Fibrenamics - University of Minho.
Developed based on polymeric materials of synthetic part through an electrospinning technique that allows working filtering structures at the nanoscale, the NanoMask consisted in the development of a material with good filtering capacity of the virus responsible for COVID-19, with biomaterials in order to reduce the environmental impact of this mask.
Featuring ergonomic as the differentiating element, the NanoMask is a thermoformed mask capable of adapting to the user's features. The NanoMask also has a filtering capacity using a smaller amount of material that allows to reduce the problem of fogging the glasses. This product has been certified by an European entity as FFP2, which means that it’s capable of filtering 98% of circulating bacteria and viruses.
