Kick off of the individual protection project against chemical agents
Developed in collaboration with Latino Group, Fibrenamics - University of Minho, Portuguese Army, Tintex and Sciencentris, the PluriProtech project aims to protect both military and civilians against NBQR agents.
With the escalation of security threats to the general public, it’s possible to verify the existence of the need to develop more efficient and versatile technological solutions for the protection and defense of human beings. The protection against chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological agents (NBQR) appear, in this context, as an extremely relevant domain, showing a marked margin of progression regarding to the possibility of the development of new technologies and products in this sector.
With this being said, the Latino Group, together with the four partners that compose this consortium, (which are Fibrenamics, as interface of University of Minho, the Portuguese Army, Tintex and Sciencentris), aims to develop a multilayer solution for active defense against NBQR agents, particularly in the field of biological and chemical threats, and also a solution more comfortable to the user.
It’s expected that the resulting products of this project will present a high efficiency, from the point of view of protection against NBQR agents, and greater comfort for value-added applications in the sector of personal protective equipment, both for military and civil use.
Therefore, taking into account the multidisciplinary areas of activity in which this project is inserted, it can be said that this project has an interdisciplinary character and highly integrative skills, which will allow the development of innovative products/processes.
